Spend an evening with three of the most prominent poets in the Philippines, Vim Nadera, Mike Coroza, and Teodoro Antonio, performing in New York for the first time at the amazing Bowery Poetry Club, where you can enjoy their poetic stylings over a glass of beer. They will be reading their own and other works by contemporary Filipino poets. English translations will be provided.

The highlight of the event will be the Balagtasan, following the tradition of Philippine poetic joust featuring extemporaneous debates in verse. Think of it as a philosophical rap battle! The topic for the Balagtasan is whether Filipinos should work abroad or not. A winner will be declared by audience vote.

Prices for tickets are currently $8 but we are working to secure donations for the venue rental fee so that the event can become pay what you want. If you’d like to help, please click on the Donate button below. All donations exceeding the venue rental fee will be used to reimburse the poets for their expenses. Please help support international poetry by coming to the event and making a contribution! Questions and inquiries may be directed to Meredith Ramirez Talusan: demerith *at* gmail *dot* com.
